Do your tastes run to rustic Americana? If they do, you are liable to get all kinds of inspiration from this wedding in Clarksdale, Mississippi, as shown in these photos by Stephen DeVries. This couple chose a “destination wedding” at the Shack Up Inn, integrating Delta traditions and excellent old-fashioned Southern charm — from an antique-seeking wedding license to old lawn chairs as repositories for sweet white bouquets. The guests get mini-pies as snacks, even though the bride requires her location in one particular of the old-fashioned chairs and assists with her personal makeup. For grins and giggles, she and her maids pose on an old bed, underneath a patchwork quilt and wearing brief flowered kimonos — best receiving-prepared wear on a warm spring day.
The bride’s gown is embroidered flowers and tiny jewels her maids don variations on dove gray, from halter tops to prints. The groom looks each inch a Southern gentleman in an embroidered jacket and soft bow tie his number-one attendant is an adorable pup. With the historic buildings around them, the couple says their vows in the open air the guests gather at a single of the “shops” decorated with tiny flag banners, flowers, and — in the interior — a plethora of vintage indicators. There’s no conventional wedding cake right here, but there is pie — and lots of it! Guests pose for entertaining pictures against the log-wall backdrop, play tambourines with the musicians, and have a ball — until they send the bride and groom off in a shower of sparklers, ending this Delta wedding with a flash.
